This paper explores these issues through a detled analysis of connected and automated vehicles CAVs, which generate substantial amounts of personal data. By using the example of CAVs, it delves into how evolving technology influences data governance policies, offering recommations to ensure that such policies remn robust agnst future changes.
As digital technologies have permeated every facet of modern life, they have become integral to our dly interactions and activities. Among these developments, the rapid advancement in automotive technology has led to the emergence of connected and automated vehicles CAVs, transforming traditional transportation systems into a vast network of data producers. The collection of large volumes of personal information by CAVs poses significant challenges for data governance policies.
The rise of CAVs exemplifies how technological progress can fundamentally alter the landscape of data governance:
Volume: The sheer volume of data by CAVs from sensors, navigation systems, communication with other vehicles, etc. surpasses what traditional vehicles could produce.
Velocity: The speed at which this data is collected and processed challenges current data management infrastructures.
